The Art Of Letting Go

We have all had at least one point in our lives where we have faced the decision of whether we should let go or hold on to something or someone.  Let’s face it, we all have baggage. Old wounds, emotional trauma, pain, loss, resentment, fears… it all follows us. It is something that happens to everyone and is part of what makes us human, but this does not mean that we have to continue dwelling on it. One of the keys to living a calm, peaceful life with purpose is the art of letting go.

Some of us have a hard time letting go because we hold a grudge, or we are insecure about ourselves. We may think that we will never find something that’s good enough or better than what we already have. We have to understand that this is not true. As long as we have Emunah.  There are far better things that will begin to come our way once we let go. I’m telling you from experience that once you are honest with yourself and make a decision to let go of what was, you will come to a feeling of peace with yourself. At first, it will be hard. It’s not easy, but then nothing worthwhile in life is easy! But,  once we have done so, we feel free from the emotions holding us back. You will never look back because you will see how taking the next step truly benefits your growth, your spirituality level and your life.

The hardest part about growing is letting go and moving away from our comfort zones. But wouldn't you rather let go of all pain you are holding to smile again? To realize life goes on and you will be okay as long as you trust in Hashem's plan and have Bitachon. Letting go does not have to mean forgetting. It simply means that we stop carrying the negative energy of the past into the present. We accept what happened, but it does not have to continue happening in our minds. We have the power to decide what we let go of and what we hold on to, and those decisions will eventually shape our lives.

When we suffer a great deal, it is important that we find meaning in what we have endured. Without seeing meaning, a person can lose a sense of purpose, which can lead to hopelessness and despair. Life is too short to hold on to past hurt. None of us know when our time is up and there is so much beauty in the world that will be missed if you keep living in the past. Let go of what was but keep the lesson.

Don't lose your faith!
